You Might Die Tomorrow: Halloween Podcast

Death is a shock. It’s something most of us fear and many of us avoid the topic or gloss over it with Halloween movies or euphemisms. But impermanence is what life is about.

Have you ever thought about the fact that you might die tomorrow? Or even today?

Kate Manser has. While working at Google, Kate was going about her life doing what we all do when she unexpectedly lost a friend and her manager at her job in two unrelated events. We’ve all been there at some point, and if you haven’t, you will. Death is a shock. It’s something most of us fear and many of us avoid the topic or gloss over it with Halloween movies or euphemisms.

But impermanence is what life is about.

And Buddhism explains this over and over again. This was the turning point in the Buddha’s life: when he realized that sickness and death were unavoidable. While suffering is a part of life, yet letting go of expectation is a release to that suffering.

Kate has done this with her project: You Might Die Tomorrow. As we talk with Kate, she explains how she came to this epiphany, the drive she has to share this message with the world and how it relates specifically to Buddhism. And what better time to have this talk than Halloween?

Hope you enjoy our chat and be sure to check out her blog and upcoming book!
