tied up

By Debbie Lynn

It is no coincidence that much of the conflicts lately have been about releasing the issues that are in our mirror.

I call it “the enemy mine” and as it goes, it is because we always call it (conflict) in for a life lesson. I went to sleep for a bit yesterday tied up in my ego/mind, and I woke up rested today. I released the ego/mind through self-forgiveness.

I was confronted (verbally attacked) the other day and it hurt me, but only because I let it hurt. In retrospect, what I discovered was a deeper understanding of the situation. I allowed the words to penetrate and control my emotions and in the encounter, I experienced how my ego/mind can rear its ugly head and close off the gateway to inner peace. Although I knew better, in the heat of the moment and because of my ego/pride, I simply gave in.

After sulking about, I put my big girl panties on and tore into the pain. Trust me, it wasn’t pretty but well worth the insight that brought me back home again (centered and balanced) enabling the recall that looks like this:

  • The tides will always turn and vindication is useless and very unwise. Hello, echo.
  • We do not have to agree with anyone or anything that does not comply with our heart.
  • It is not what is said, it is how the messages are given—then received.
  • I see now just how open to pain I truly am when another is in pain, and instead of taking the higher road I dropped into the drama but; it reminded me of how hurtful we all can be when we are sad and down.
  • Consider the source of the message and messenger.
  • I forgot when I was wrapped up in drama how important it is to breathe in my own words that spirit has sends to me.
  • I discovered that I must be more mindful and remember to walk on.
  • I know some souls are not ready to receive another view or compromise. They are going through their process (just as I did, and still am) and their stuff is not mine. They may want to fight to the finish, yet it is up to us to finish by not even engaging.
  • Truth: Our seeing and hearing are not always in alignment with others (that is more than obvious I know, but life happens) and even though it appears we are all speaking the same language, meanings can get lost in translation.
  • Just because we have eyes, doesn’t mean we can see. Just because we can touch, doesn’t mean we can feel. Just because we speak, does not mean we will be heard.

The beauty and purpose of contradiction is that it keeps us attentive, humble and clean. It is clearly apparent that the more attached to an absolute we are (in conflict), the harder it is to forgive and forget. That has to be my daily reminder.

Being flexible is more than just a yoga pose, it is truly a game changer. So the minute confrontation is in our face, we should quickly swallow that urge to lash out. The road to betterment is the path of least resistance, but we cannot possibly be in that space every moment (or can we?). I went to sleep for a bit yesterday tied up in my ego/mind and I woke up rested today as I released the ego/mind through self-forgiveness.

Now, I say thank you to the Universe for the wake-up call.

Debbie LynnDebbie Lynn realized at a very young age that the outer reality was a far cry from her inner truth and meeting her inner wisdom head on always turned into a challenge. The wonderment, curiosity and hypocrisy of life led to exploration and a cumulative documentation (art and journaling) of what she lovingly calls “the purge.” It is her way of ridding any negative energy from the daily grind. She says, “In essence, it is a way to start fresh and cleanse the soul.” Debbie has had numerous articles published with elephant journal, The Edge Magazine and Simple Steps Real Life Magazine.
