Through yoga and meditation I was able to tap into my more spiritual self, and nurture growth in these once hidden spaces.

By Tara Goldin

Here are pictures of my boyfriend, Matthew Glackin and me, Tara Goldin, sitting in meditation in random places.

We met at a yoga class two years ago and accidentally fell in love.

Matt has been an avid yogi since college when he found practicing yoga and daily meditation helped him calm his thoughts so he could focus better. Once a competitive athlete, he found that meditation could help him attain a similar connection to his body and places to tap in to calm the chitta vritti, to find his best focus. It then carried over in to his daily life in other venues, and now, as an avid traveler, yoga and meditation gives him a stable link to a space that feels like home, no matter where in the country he may be. Matt continues to use this practice to spread loving energy and to stay humble.

I came to yoga years ago as an alternate form of exercise to add to my already active lifestyle and found a profound sense of peace and connection through my practice. Through yoga and meditation I was able to tap into my more spiritual self, and nurture growth in these once hidden spaces. This practice trickles over in to my everyday life, infusing grounding and calm in situations that could trigger stress or uncertainty at home being a single parent, as a Registered Nurse delivering babies or sitting in traffic. From the spectrum of ordinary daily stressors to being stared down in the face of the most horrific tragedies, it is like magic. Yoga and meditation help me learn more about myself so that I can in turn, learn more ways to be a conduit of healing for others.

I am now a RYT and am able to share this tapping in to yourself with my community, and essentially, universally, and that is an incredibly vital and beautiful thing.

I love having a partner that has an equal respect and understanding for the healing energies of yoga and meditation. Matt and I can be found holding hands in savasana, meditating back to back under a tree in some random park in anywhere USA, just feeling each other breathe or perhaps in a city near you someday.

If you see us? Please say hello.
